Tom Petty

Born in 1950, Petty’s life long interest in music began at age ten when he met Elvis Presley in 1961, and he has been quoted as saying that he knew he wanted to be in a band the moment he saw The Beatles on the Ed Sullivan show. Interestingly, one of his first teachers was Don Felder, who would later become a member of the Eagles.
Tom Petty is the frontman for Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, which completed their thirtieth anniversary tour in 2006. Petty is also a founding member of the Traveling Wilburys (along with Bob Dylan, George Harrison, Roy Orbison, and Jeff Lynne), and Mudcrutch. He recorded a number of hit singles with the Heartbreakers, releasing 26 top-ten singles and selling over 60 million albums.
