Considered by many to be the greatest electric guitarist of all time, James Marshall “Jimi” Hendrix was born Johnny Allen Hendrix, November 27, 1942 and died September 18, 1970. Deeply influenced by the Blues, Hendrix took rock music in directions never conceived previously. Hendrix is a member of the US and of the UK Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and has won numerous other prestigious music awards.
