Aerosmith
Aerosmith was formed in Boston, Massachusetts, in 1970, by guitarist Joe Perry, bassist Tom Hamilton, singer Steven Tyler, drummer Joey Kramer, and guitarist Ray Tabano. In 1971, Tabano was replaced by Brad Whitford and in 1973 the band began its string of multi-platinum albums with the release of the self titled album Aerosmith.
The band’s mega success in the 70s with Toys in the Attic and Rocks gave way to drug addiction and internal conflict, resulting in the departure of Joe Perry and Brad Whitford at decade’s end. Perry and Whitford returned in 1984 but the band only began again to find success with the release of Permanent Vacation in 1987.
Aerosmith is enshrined in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and is one of the best selling bands of all time with more than 150 million records sold. After almost 40 years the band continues to tour and record new music.
